The founders of Functional IT previously started Infovest, a company that specialises in data management for asset managers. After growing the company to 50 people and dominating the market in South Africa for 10 years the business was sold to Statpro LLC, a UK based analytics software company. The skills learned have been carried over to our new venture giving us many years of experience with developing software and managing large IT projects.

We are currently planning and working on various other cloud systems to enable property sales, enterprise data management and large scale data lakes.

The Team
Tarquin Vaughan-Scott
Education: Bachelor Of Veterinary Science (Hons) (Masters), Diploma in Business Administration, Diploma in Computer Programming, Microsoft MCSD, Udacity Machine Learning Engineer Nanodegree, Several courses in data-warehouse theory.
Experience: System Architect with 15 years’ experience in data-warehouse and data integration projects, 4 years’ experience in Azure Cloud Solutions, Experience in multiple asset management systems such as compliance, performance, accounting and trading.
Work Experience: Work experience at several asset managers such as Investec, Old Mutual, Cadiz, Brait, Prescient, M&G, Bank of New York, CIBC, etc.
Companies Started: Co-founder of Infovest, a data management company for asset managers recently sold to Statpro UK; Co-founder of Findango, a SaaS company that connect borrowers and lenders for commercial property development in the UK, Co-owner of Functional IT, a software development company that has developed various solutions for insurance, forex, real estate and finance companies.
EMILE Langeveldt
Education: Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Information Systems (UCT)
Experience: With over 16 years of experience in the investment management industry, Emile , has held various key positions in business analysis, implementations, consulting, management, and sales for globally recognized brands. Emile’s knowledge spans front-, middle-, and back-office investment systems and data, making him well-versed in the intricacies of the field. Having delivered projects in the United Kingdom, the United States, the Middle East and other parts of Africa, Emile’s global exposure has provided him with a comprehensive understanding of different markets, regulations, and cultural nuances. Emile’s strong background in information systems, coupled with his deep understanding of investment management, enables him to effectively bridge the gap between technology and finance.

brian mynhardt
Education: Bachelor of Computer Science and Games Development (UCT), Udacity Data Engineer Nanodegree.
Experience: A mid-level software developer with 4 years of experience in full stack development on the Azure cloud platform. He has successfully assisted developers in creating innovative products for the asset management and FinTech industries. Notably, Brian spearheaded the development of a cloud-based platform that evaluates share classes against hundreds of criteria, providing valuable market insights. He also played a key role in building REIG Fund Application, a sophisticated platform for property developers to apply for development finance. Brian’s expertise lies in leveraging modern cloud tools to deliver efficient solutions at a rapid pace.

Zelda Kloppers
Education: Diploma in Business Analysis (FTI), Associate in
Management Practice (UCT GSB)
Experience: 23 years’ in the financial services industry
with 15 years’ experience as a Technical Business Analyst with knowledge of
both retail and institutional sales and operations processes, including
onboarding, performance, fund operations, legal, compliance and call
centre. Zelda has a strong understanding of the complexity of
institutional data and the data and regulatory dependencies across various
global business areas and systems. A key resource on multiple projects
including improved automation and migration of global reporting system and
Factsheets as well as various Salesforce (CRM) projects for global sales and
operations teams, including call-centre teams. Zelda also has experience
in various cross-system projects, including testing and data validation during
regulatory, back-office, data warehouse and trading system changes.

areas and IT.
Chad Goldsworthy
Education: BSc Computer Science with Honours (1st, Arden University), MSc Artificial Intelligence (University of Leeds)
Experience: Previously working as a sound engineer in the theatre industry for 5 years, Chad went back to university to pursue a career change to software and data engineering, and he is currently a junior data engineer for Functional-IT.
Work Experience: Previously a sound engineer and technical manager at several theatres including Artscape and the Fugard Theatre. Currently working my first position as a data engineer for Functional IT.
Charl etsebeth
Education: BCom (Hons) Financial Analysis & Portfolio Management (UCT)
Experience: Charl is an experienced business analyst with over 10 years of experience. Charl worked in various roles within the asset management industry from client services, technical data analysis and supporting investment administration systems. He has experience in automating investment administration processes, configuring back-office systems, managing data feeds and developing management reports. Charl is most passionate about being involved in projects involving data integration and automating mundane manual processes in order to increase efficiencies.

Caeden Bredeveldt
Education: Bachelor of Computer Science and Business Computing. Bachelor of Science Honours in Computer Science (UCT)
Experience: Caeden is junior software developer with 1 years’ experience creating solutions on the Azure cloud platform. He has been a part of creating several data engineering solutions our asset management clients. Caeden has worked on multiple projects including the development of a data warehouse to store CRM and Analytics data for wealth management and an Excel Ingestion tool for investment reporting. Caeden has a deep understanding of data structures and integration techniques to produce efficient cloud solutions.

Jude Twycross
Education: Bachelor of Science (Computer Science), Stellenbosch University
Experience: Junior full stack software developer with 1 years work experience creating solutions on the Azure cloud platform. Jude was part of multiple frontend and backend development projects. Some of these include a Portfolio Optimisation tool as well as a Power Bi like editor. Jude is passionate about product design and development.
